Advanced Wound Care
This is a family of dressings that are “active” in the treatment of wounds and deliver topical treatments to the wound site. They may be absorbent in order to manage wound exudate or act as a secondary or cover dressing. Typically, the dressing will deliver a sustained amount of anti-microbial agent to the site. These dressings require full FDA and EU regulatory approvals.
Breathable Film Dressings are made of a highly breathable polyurethane film tape for extended wear. Used as a primary dressing for Stage I & II pressure ulcers. Thin film dressings are also used to dress I.V. sites, and minor abrasion and skin tears. The adhesive is hypoallergenic and can be worn up to 7 days.
Foam dressings are highly absorbent dressings generally made from hydrophilic polyurethane foam. The dressing can be supplied with adhesive border around the foam, if desired. Foam dressings require less frequent changes because they absorb and hold a high amount of exudate.
Hydrocolloid dressings are made up of a matrix of cellulose and other gel-forming agents such as gelatin and pectin. It is an occlusive dressing that helps maintain a moist wound healing environment. It also promotes autolysis and granulation. The dressings can be manufactured “thin” or “thick” with film or foam top.
The primary purpose of a sheet hydrogel dressing is to provide a moist wound environment. Sheet hydrogels are comprised of cross-linked polymers, and usually have high water content. The dressings provide some absorption of wound exudate, and provide a cool, soothing effect on wounds. These dressings are generally indicated for low exudating wounds.
Island Dressings describe a family of wound dressings that are bordered by adhesive. They typically consist of an absorbent pad surrounded by a medical adhesive. Sizes vary according to customer need.
These products and components are made from non-woven fibers with medical adhesives. These non-woven tapes can be various colors including white and tan, and have custom colors printed on them. Products made from non-woven tapes are highly breathable and conformable.
This is a family of products that are used to secure tubes, cables, catheters, PIC lines, central lines, feeding tubes, etc. The holders can be custom manufactured to exact shapes and sizes.
Tape strips used instead of or in conjunction with sutures. The tape backing can be reinforced with filaments for extra tensile strength or can be elastic and flexible.
